Visa  n.  A written stamp or document obtained by a citizen of one country from the proper authorities of another country, denoting that that person's passport has been examined, and that the person who bears the visa is permitted to enter or pass through the second country. It is usually in the form of an endorsement on the passport of the person seeking permission to enter a foreign country; however, in some cases a separate document is issued that does not create a mark in the passport.
